The Divine Exception: Breaking Free from Limitations.

Psalm 91:7: “A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.”

Have you ever felt bound by rules, regulations, or societal expectations? Have you ever wondered if there’s more to life than the ordinary? This month, let’s explore the concept of divine exception—a powerful truth that can set you free from limitations.

 What is an Exception?

An exception is defined as being free from an obligation or liability imposed on others. It refers to someone or something that is exempt from a general rule.

Life is Governed by Laws

Life is governed by laws—both physical and spiritual. Physical laws, such as the law of gravity, help us stay grounded on Earth, while Newton’s laws of motion describe how objects move

Laws are good; they create order and ensure fairness. God is the author of these laws. During the creation process, God established many laws, including gravity (as seen in Genesis 1:6: “God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens”). Another example is the law of multiplicity, which governs reproduction in nature (Genesis 1:28: “Be fruitful and multiply”).

There are also spiritual laws that govern our activities. One example from the Bible is the laws of covenants, which can span many generations. Another is the law of attraction, which states that positive thoughts and actions can attract positive outcomes (Proverbs 23:7: “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he”).

Rules and Laws Can Limit You

As beneficial as laws are, they can also become limiting factors that prevent you from moving forward. Laws operate indiscriminately and must be fair. The same law of attraction indicates that negative thoughts and actions can attract negative outcomes, irrespective of what caused your negative thought

According to the law of harvest, if you invest a little, you will receive little in return. This law does not consider if you have been sick in the hospital and were unable to invest much; it simply operates on its own principles. You either have to follow the rules to achieve similar returns or target the protocol of exception to break free from limitations.

The Protocol of Exception

The law of gravity works well for us so we don’t float away; however, it poses a significant hindrance to an airplane. An airplane cannot conform to the law of gravity; otherwise, it won’t fly. It must overcome gravity using Newton’s third law of motion. Now that is an exception!

Rules do not work for everyone—just ask any inventor or entrepreneur. They break out of the norm by employing a higher level of creativity and technological advancement. They still have to put in the work and respect the rules governing their industries, but they think differently to overcome those rules that is pacing every other player in their industry.

Jesus met His disciples on a boat after He went to pray on a mountain (Matthew 14:22-33). He applied the protocol of exception to the law of gravity by walking on water to reach His crew, He even invited Peter to join Him.

God: Author of Laws and Divine Exception

God is not only the author of laws and order but also a God of divine exception. You don’t have to go through what everyone else experiences. You don’t have to inherit the cancer that has ravaged your family or follow the same stages your boss or colleagues went through.

There is a higher wisdom and power from God that can inspire you with ideas to break free from the constraints of rules.

The question is: what will qualify you for this divine help?

2 Chronicles 16:9 states, “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”

You must be a person of divine purpose like many men and women of purpose in the Bible—Moses, Joseph, Elijah. they broke the mold, operated in unusual graces.

Reflection

There is a better way beyond the current rules.

Ecclesiastes 9:10-11 New Living Translation

10 Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the gravethere will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.

11 I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.

Prayer

Your prayer should echo Peter’s words in Matthew 14:28: “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”

1. Suspend any law or rule that is hindering my breakthrough in the name of Jesus.

2. God, arise and break protocol for my sake so I can overtake and recover all, in the name of Jesus.
